This year’s banquet will be a gala event at the Blackhawk Automotive Museum in Danville, California. Sponsored by MINI Financial Services, this will be the culminating activity of Mini Meet West 2005.
Located just north of San Ramon and within sight of Mt. Diablo, the facility encompasses nearly 70,000 square feet with four exhibition galleries, an Automotive Reference Library and Museum Store, Special Events Area, Board Room and state-of-the-art catering kitchen. Two spacious Auto Galleries display about 90 historically significant and artistically inspired automobiles — mostly one-of-a-kind — dating from the turn of the century. Mini Meet participants are invited to arrive at the museum any time on Sunday, July 31; provided they have their Mini Meet badge to identify themselves, they will be admitted for free. Private docent-led tours will begin at 5:00 after the general public has left the museum. A special area in front of the museum will display selected Minis and MINIs. Seating for the banquet, in the midst of the auto gallery, will begin at 6:30. Scott’s Seafood will cater the banquet. Scott’s Seafood Grill & Bar has been a long-standing tradition in the San Francisco area dating back to 1976, when founding father Malcolm Stroud proudly opened its doors on the corner of Scott and Lombard. Scott’s prides themselves on serving fresh-cooked banquet meals, not “hot-boxed” or pre-cooked. During the banquet, awards for the various Meet competitions will be presented. In addition, special items donated by Meet supporters will be auctioned, raffled, and given away as door prizes. The banquet will wrap up around 9:00 PM, leaving plenty of time to get back to the Marriott for late night visiting and farewells to our friends. If you happen to meet any of the good folks from MINI financial, please thank them for helping to make this banquet, at this fabulous venue, possible.
